purpose of this feild and in what sense we can use the feild with 1 real time example

If multiple customers belongs to a group, you can consolidate those customers under one group.

This will help you when you run FBL5N (Customer Line Items Display), you have the option to generate the report based on this field.

Hi,

I would like to know where I can create a matchcode for this field as I have read the following:

Group key

If the customer or the vendor belongs to a group, you can enter a group key here. The group key is freely assignable.

If you create a matchcode using this group key, group evaluations are posible

I would also like to know if in the reports of sales orders/quotations it could appear.

It is a freely defineable field . Basically you can group your customers or vendors.

It could be that acertain group of customers belong to a particular group , say XXXX. Based on this field you can do a reporting etcc...
