Hi,

I am trying to install SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version on windows vista ultimate 32 bit. when i check MaxDBSAPNWPREV.log

What could be the issue

as the error says File not found: C:\sapdb\NSP\_tempLocation\load\load_datasave

i am not able to find the folder in my system.

I am using local drive C: and file system is NTFS only. I tried reinstalling and now the log shows

I actually used the System Restore functionality and tried the installation again (Instead of uninstalling and cleaning the registery). Could this be a problem ?

Hm, I'd indeed like to suggest you make sure you remove everything MaxDB related from your machine (incl. Registry settings) and retry.

Hi Roland,

I completely formatted the system and installed it again and it was successful. But when i start the application server i get this error message

Connection failed to node <local> for database NSP

Please check this screen shot

Very nice to hear from you. Thanks for the link. I searched with few key words but could not find the link.

In the properties i have

Target = C:\SAP\NSP\SYS\exe\run\startSystem.cmd

Start in = C:\SAP\NSP\SYS\exe\run

and in the file startSystem.cmd

C:\sapdb\NSP\db\pgm\dbmstart -d NSP

C:\SAP\NSP\SYS\exe\run\sapcontrol -prot PIPE -nr 00 -host . -function StartWait 180 10

So i guess my path is right

I also tried what Walmir Catunda mentioned in the 3rd point (execute each command manually). I went to the specified path and executed startSystem.cmd but get the same error

Hi again,

can you please check whether you've got any more information in either the

dbm.prt or knldiag file in your MaxDB instance's Rundirectory (on your system it'll probably be C:\sapdb\data\wrk\NSP) and show it to us?

just discussed your case with a dev; you might want to add the OS user with which you've tried to install/start your instance to the group "SDB Operators", relog, then try again.

Can you please explain how to do this. What is "SDB Operators" ? Is it a file ? How do i add my user here ?

I don't have my system with me right now. I will try this and revert on Monday

Hi,

the SDB Operators group is a local Windows group on your machine. Make sure the user with which you're installing is a member of that group.

Hi Roland,

I just changed the "User Account Control" in Vista. Now when i start the application server it gives the message "Service Unknown" as in below screen shot.

But still i am able to logon and work as the start is successful.

The strange issue is that i am not able to display or create programs with BCUSER. The cursor just shows a busy sign when i tried this. The same happens with source code of Function module, methods in classes etc. I even waited for up to 2 hrs and it still shows the busy sign.

But i am to execute the program directly.

The display of programs works with DDIC and SAP* users, but these users cannot be used for editing.

All other transaction seems to work fine.

Any inputs on this will be helpful

Hi Rajvansh Ravi,

I´ve just installed in my laptop creating a new partition (Vista and XP installed). No problem with XP-Professional SP2. Be carefull, i am not sure if it works for XP-Home edition.

If you reinstall the SAP ABAP Trial version be sure to delete the previous folders and specially registry entries.

With XP-Pro SP2 for me it works perfectly until it happens what i´ve told you in this post...

If you have problems with the reinstallation with XP-Pro tell me may be i coul help you.

Sure, it seems that are different... i´ve been trying to solve the problem and your post is the most similar that i´ve been able to find... if nobody knows the solution i will have to uninstall and reinstall again but the problem is that probably it will happen again... maybe there is something related to the shared memory but i don´t know how to acces to the database... i really don´t know what to do.

I´ve been looking your problem but i have no idea... sorry...

Since you have mentioned XP, did you install it on Service pack 2 ?

Hello again, i´ve been trying to solve this problem without success. Here is more details about the problem and the logs in relation with.

System: Windows XP Pro.

HDD: 100GB (50GB Free after install many programs).

1.- SAP ABAP Trial 7.01 Installed succesfully.

2.- Everything was working perfectly for two days.

3.- SGEN launched. Jobs finished ok. Shutdowdn of the system ok.

The problem starts next mnorning...

4.- Unable to start the database using sap console or direct access in programs->SAP->SAP Netweaver 7.01 ABAP Trial version.

Start with direct link. (Impossible to start service MAXDB: NSP)

Services: (SAPNSP_00) ok but MAXDB: NSP doesn´t starts...

I´ve just tried many things like add my user to SDB Operators, clear files shi and shm but no success...

Any idea how to solve this problem... maybe is in relation with some memory issue but how can i free space if i cannot acces to database ?

My problem seems to different from yours. Although for me it says "Service is Invalid" for Database, the status is green and i am able to login to the system but when i started SGEN lot of dumps got created in ST22.

But i am still unable to view source code in SE38, SE37 etc

Except for this other transactions are fine.

Hello every body... i´m facing with the same problem and i thinank i´ve just tried everything with no success... 2 days ago i installed ABAP Trial without problems, everything works fine and yesterday i was able to login and practice a little bit. At the end of the day i run the tc SGEN to compile the system and when the jobs ended i shutdown the db and the computer.

This morning i´m not able to stats the db, it´s impossible... i´ve just tried many things that i´ve seen in different post but the error still appears... any idea ? please help me... it´s very important for me to have the ABAP Trial working.

System

Windows XP Pro SP2.

HD 100GB.

Here is my dbm file (...the end of the file to see the error).

My user is assigned to SDB Operators.

If i try to start the service manually the system says that service it has been started and stopped because there is nothing to do... any idea ?
