Hi,

Recently we have done Kernel Upgrade to our Quality Server and the System information is as follows:

OS : Windows 2000 Advanced Srvr 5.0.2195 SP4 Build 2195

DB : Microsoft SQL Server 2000 8.00.2039

Memory : 6GB

SAP Kernel : 640_REL (139) --> 640_REL (247)

SAP BASIS 640 (14)

Problem :

-

We have upgraded the Kernel from 640_REL (139) --> 640_REL (247). After the Kernl Upgrade the SAP system is not getting started. I had attached the DEV_W0 file for your reference. Please let me know if you know solution for the error.

Also Please let me know if you need any more logs.

Would appreciate if you could kindly help me solving this issue.

Info: the /PAE setting has already be done in boot.ini file.

Regards,

L Raghunahth

Hi,

If this is the Central DB Instance then value of PHYS_MEMSIZE parameter should be 30% of RAM. Also check your page file size and make it atleast 3 to 4 times of RAM.

check out SAP note on Zero administration memory management on windows.

[https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=88416]

Hope this helps.

hi,

Have you gone thru the note and the memory leak problem, the section in the attached W0 log.

From the log:

M Sat Mar 14 10:13:44 2009

M calling db_connect ...

C Thread ID:4204

C Thank You for using the SLOLEDB-interface

C Using dynamic link library 'E:\usr\sap\Q01\sys\exe\run\dbmssslib.dll'

C dbmssslib.dll patch info

C patchlevel 0

C patchno 241

C patchcomment MSSQL: memory leak in DSQL access to (x)strings (2) (1225411)

C np:(local) connection used on QDRRRV09

C CopyLocalParameters: dbuser is 'dbo'

C Provider SQLNCLI could not be initialized. See note #734034 for more information.

C Using provider SQLOLEDB instead.

C OpenOledbConnection: MARS property was not set.

END

Observd there is memory leak happening from log.

Also make R3TRANS and see if SAP able to connect to DB wht was the return code for tht, should be 0000 any thing other than tht, no connection between SAP and DB.

wht is CURR mean, is tht size currently occupied, in tht case there is no further space available in ssytem for paging, even this could lead to system down. CHK for memory leakage from the vendor...

Regards....
