Hi All,

I am new to MI.

We have installed WAS6.40(ABAP+J2EE) SR1 installation and on SP9 now.

We want to move to SP16.

Can any1 guide us on the following points:

1) Do we have to do any configuration (of MI) part now and then move to SP16?

or

2) Can we apply SP16 patch first on WAS and then do the MI configuration.

We have gone through some documents on SDN .. but, we are not very sure of how to go about from this point.

Would be grateful.. if some1 can share us any screenshots of procedure to go about.

Plz help.

Thanks.

Nilesh.

Hello Nilesh

Do we have to do any configuration (of MI) part now and then move to SP16? Not really. But the following steps should help you

First upgrade you SAP J2EE engine and Middleware to SP16. Make sure the sync servlet is also upgraded to SP16. For the client proceed as follows.

1. Download MI SP 16 from the http://service.sap.com/swdc

2. The patch for SP 16 contains separate patches for JSP Client and AWT Client. Care must be taken <b>not</b> to upload the complete file in the webconsole. Instead the individual files based on the MI client (JSP or AWT) needs to be uploaded.

3. Upload the patch as an addon and assign it to the client and synchronize

4. Once sync is completed and you press the 'Continue' button you will get the message stating that an application has being assigned to you with an option to start the installation process now or later. You can either start the installation immediately by clicking Start or you can postpone it by clicking Start Later.

5. If you click Start, then a new AWT window opens up and you need to click Start again to start the installation process. Once installation is completed, click exit and restart the client.

6. After restart Check in the INFO link on your device to see if it has really installed.

<b>Note</b>: Additionally if you have upgraded your sync servlet from SP 09 to SP16, then you need to create the property file using the Visual Administrator and not by manually creating it the local directory. This is explained in detail in the Installation guide(SP13) under the chapter Creating property file.

Sorry i couldnt provide the screen shots. Hope this helps.

Best Regards
