How IBM Mainframe communicate with SAP ECC 6 with XI/PI

Hi expert:

Here is my case....

there is an SAP R/3 build up on IBM Mainframe and need to comunicate with other application on IBM Mainframe.

Don't know how it works.

Is there any possible solutions and reference cases for SAP PI/XI and IBM Mainframe integration?

Can any one provide me an ppt introduction or case study?

Or any referance document?

Here you have following options

1) JDBC adapter - you can communicate with DB2 using JDBC adapter

2) File adapter - Transfer the data using consume\provide file

3) Third party adapters (e.g.iWay adapter )

what else you want pl. specify.

Mainframe has underlying DB2 database which could communicate to SAP XI using JDBC adapter.
