Some where I read that MDM-Lite is nothing but MDM Catalog. Can we install MDM Catalog on LINUX or it has to be WINDOWS 2003 64-bit?

I wont comment on MDM-Lite.
MDM-SRM Catalog Servers can be installed on Linux 64 bit, However you have to install clients and UI in Windows only.

You can install SRM MDM catalog on Linux platform -64 bit
