Handling Unit and Storage Unit number range clash

SAP ECC 6.0

We are using Packing functionality in the Delivery, which creates Handling Units. We are also using WM with Storage Unit management (without HU management). Looks like the SU number ranges and the HU number range (from delivery clash). The problem we are look at a Storage Unit display (LS33) and click on the HU Stock, it goes to the Handling Unit used in a completely different delivery.

Questions-

Is there a way to delink the HU and SU number ranges.

If not, is changing the HU number range (or SU number range) not to overlap the only way.

Found a config setting which allows delinking HU # range from SU# range. The setting is -- "Set Unique Number Assignment for HU Identification" -- This should set off (unchecked) which then removes the link between the HU and Storage Unit.
