I am trying to install SAP NetWeaver 7.01 SR1 ABAP Trial Version (minisap) on my local machine and do not know what to enter where it asks for a domain name server.

Please could someone advise me.

Hi

You can check it by directory structure

<Drive>:/usr/sap/SID/instance/j2ee ?? If found then you have java stack installed in it.

Hi Uday,

I have two j2eeinst.lst files installed one at C:\usr\sap\NSP\DVEBMGS00 and the other at C:\usr\sap\NSP\SYS\exe\uc.

What now?

Many thanks,

Yes, I am able to login to SAP using SAP gui, no problem. I am also able to run transactions from within SAP gui.

How do I check whether the JAVA stack has been included?

Hi Uday,

I have tried both

http://john-pc:50000/nwa as well as http://10.10.0.10:50000/nwa and IE doesn't recognise either of these URLs.

Hi

What is the Database you have installed MSSQL or MAXDB ?

Hi Uday,

I have eventually managed to install minisap - I installed MaxDB to answer your question.

I unchecked a checkbox that was asking for a FQDN and then the domain name server is no longer mandatory.

However, when trying to run webdynpro applications I now get a shortdump that shows a CX_FQDN exception. It says:

An exception occurred which is explained in detail below.

The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_FQDN', was not caught and

therefore caused a runtime error.

The reason for the exception is:

Die URL enthält keine vollständige Domainangabe (john-pc statt

john-pc.).

I don't understand the German, but john-pc is my computer name and I was prompted during the installation to replace localhost in my host file with this.

The url of the webdynpro application includes this, for example:

http://john-pc:8000/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/z_hello_world

Would you know how I now resolve this?

Many thanks,

John

Hello John,

There are two things according to me.

1. parameter icm/hostname_full should be maintained into Profile

2. For Webdynpro the service should be activated into SICF

and i am able to see that your hostname is john-pc there is a special character so not sure it will work or not because SAP most of the time not able to read the special charatcter.

Hi Subhash,

I have activated all the relevant services in SICF.

How do I go about setting the parameter in the profile? Is there a transaction to do this, or how do I do this?

Many thanks,

John

Hello John,

Use RZ10 to modify the instance profile. You can set the parameter value by modifying the profile.

Hi John,

I am getting exactly the same error as you. Did you manage to resolve yours? If yes, can you please let me know the steps?

Many Thanks,

Hi

Try giving your Host name btw can you tell me what all the pre-steps you have done.

Setting up the hostname in services file ?

Installing JDK?

what is the OS you are using?

Hi Uday,

I have setup a host name of 'yourhost' in my hosts file, not services file. I haven't changd the services file at all.

I have created a loopback adapter.

My system already has the Java JRE, although this is version 1.6* not 1.4*.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.

I hope that gives you enough info?

Many thanks,

Hi

During the installation have you select Local installation or Domain installation?

Hi Uday,

I was not given this option in the installation wizard. The previous screen asked the location drive and I entered C:

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

John
