Dear Experts,

Can we use the external 8 digit alpha numeric numbers for Storage units in our warehouse?

When we recieve the goods from vendors, the goods come with serial number(Alpha Numneric) which are printed as labels and attached to them.

Hi,

You can use the user exit to use your own number range logic. This exit is also used by SAP itself when you use Handling units in WM. You can activate it in storage unit customizing.

Just a question, is 1 material you receive 1 storage unit? So 1:1 relation?

Yes one material to one SU.

We are not using the HU management in our warehouse.All that we are are doing is,

we receive the pallets with external Alpha numeric barcodes (serial number)and scan them as SUs in our warehouse.

We are not labeling them with again.We do the bin to bin move with the same serial number as SUs.

Ok, so it should be possible by using the user exit for SU number range:

Logistics Execution / WM / Storage units/ Define number ranges.

Nice solution, in this case you can also track serial numbers to bin level in WM without the usage of HUM.
