hello, i want to know about the system refresh, could u please explain what is the concept and procedure, we are using the backend MS SQl

Hi,

System Refresh is nothing but copying one SAP System to another. If the SAP System already exists it is known as System Refresh, if the System doesnt exists and you are building a new system on the same o/s and db as the source system it is known as a homogeneous system copy. In case your database and/or operating system is different in the source and the target system it is known as a heterogeneous system copy or migration. In this case you cannot use database specific method but will have to use SAP specific tools only (discussed below).

Just as an example copying your producton SAP system to your QAS SAP system is a system refresh if both exists.

You can either use Database Specific method or SAP specific method. Database specific method is usually via a backup of your source system restored to the target system.

SAP has a number of tools for this as well such as R3load (for ABAP) and Jload (for JAVA).

After the database is restored/refreshed you will have to follow a number of post-processing steps as well. These ae all well documented in the guides here.
