How-To Guide: Creating an MDM Snapshot Using the MDM Info Collector Tool

The MDM Info Collector is an easy-to-use tool that allows customers to create a snapshot of MDM (e.g., INI-files, logs, repository data, and so on) that contains vital information for offline failure analysis when reporting a SAP customer message. The information collected by the tool can dramatically speed up the processing of an OSS/CSN message.

For more information about the tool, see this [SDN blog|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/22033] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken];.

How-to Guide: How To Generate XSD Schemas from Existing MDM Repositories

Implementation projects often require standard inbound and outbound interfaces based on MDM repository structures. [How-to Guide: Best Practices for SAP NetWeaver MDM Taxonomy|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/60fea38f-1cac-2c10-6092-d3ab4395f7b2]

A typical Product Information Management (PIM) scenario is comprised of rich product data content storage and management. The taxonomy is one of the most complex rich data structures and one of the most important cornerstones of an MDM PIM project.

This new how-to guide presents beneficial considerations and best practices about MDM taxonomy that should be considered. Print-scenario related considerations are also described, when applicable, and noted with a specific icon.

Hi Markus/Michael,

I have a couple of questions regarding MDM Email Notifications:

1. Is SAP MDM Server compatible with Lotus/Domino Mail Server?

2. On which protocol Lotus/Domino Mail Server should be configured to receive mail requests from SAP MDM server.

3. From which protocol SAP MDM server sends email request to mail agents on target email server. Is it SMTP or any other protocol?

4. Can SAP MDM Server send email notifications to Lotus/Domino Mail server without any extra configurations on either of side?

5. Can MDM users in Console be configured with email ids other than the specified email server domain in mds.ini?

6. Can mds.ini be configured with multiple email domains under a single repository?

7. More than 30 email servers are available in market today, Is MDM server compatible with all, means MDM can send email to all of them? or Some specific protocols need to be configured on email server to receive email reuests from MDM server.

Please reply as soon as possible.

Hello Alok Sharma

SAP MDM used standart e-mail protocols (POP3 and SMTP) and work with all e-mail servers which supports thats protocols

In mds.ini file you can set e-mail host name(or IP adress) your e-mail server

that e-mail host may be only one for each repository, but you can configured you e -mai server for translate e- mails to another servers

For send e-mail you should have two users in your repository with filled valid e-mail adress

Create simple workflow: Start-e-mail Notification-End

Workflow owner should be one of users with valid e-mail

In e-mai notification step you should enter e-mail receiver(its should be another user with valid e-mail adress)

when you launch workflow notification will doing

Result of that you can see in reports or in workflow state
