Central DBA planning Calendar for remote Oracle DB.

Hello,

I want to know if it's possible to setup (and use) the Central DBA planning Calendar for remote Oracle DB.

Ok let see in more details my question :

I have one SRM (SRQ) system and one MDM system + a Java system (J1Q) (on another host than the one where my SRM system is).

I would like schedule/monitor the backup of my MDM + Java system from my SRM system (R/3).

For this I did the following :

1) Install an SAP Gateway (stand alone engine) pn my MDM-JAVA system.

2) Setup an RFC on my SRM system :SAPXPG_DBDEST_XXXX (Connection Test ok).

3) Add this system in DB13C

But when I try to run an action i.e : Check DB, Backup Redo Log, the action start but canceled after few seconds with the below error message in the log :

Job started

Step 001 started (program RSDBAJOB, variant &0000000000068, user ID SAPADMIN)

Execute logical command BRCONNECT On host SCAW0499

Parameters:-u / -jid CHECK20090304161914 -sid GW1 -j SRQ -c -f check

SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE failed for BRCONNECT - Reason: x_error

Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE

I search in the online doc but only find info on how to use it with DB2 ??

So my question is it possible to use this features with an remote oracle database ???

If it's possible, do you see why it's not working ??

Do I miss something.... ?

Many thanks in advance for you help.

D./

Hai,

It is possible to use Central DB calendar and access remote database.

Have you given the gateway details in the RFC connection.

Try to check the trace files of Gateway.

Check SAP Note:446172,34219.
