File-XI-multiple IDoc Scenario

Former Member

Hi there -

I am working on single File-XI-multiple IDoc Scenario and have following questions:

(please keep in mind that there is already an existing multiple IDocs-XI-single File scenario between the same systems)

1. Please provide any detailed step by step documentation from end-to-end.

2. I am thinking it's compulsory to use BPM, is there any way to aviod?

3. Is it possible to update existing IDocs in R/3 directly from the data from XI?

Thanks everyone in advance...

Pat

Hi,

2. I am thinking it's compulsory to use BPM, is there any way to aviod?

It is not required to use BPM.

Just go thru following SAP Note - 814393

hi,

For a file to IDOC scenario, where you want to do 1 :N mapping, you will have to use a BPM.

1. You will have your receive step tp receive the file.

2. The transform step to spilt the file into N idocs.

3. A Block that wil contain a send step to send the idocs.

Hi Bhavesh,

Are you sure, I need to use BPM? AS Moorthy & in Blog mentioned we can avoid BPM. Please clarify.

Thanks,

Pat

Hi Pat,

Just some info for you-

If you are posting multiple Idocs of different types then you will be end up with doing 1:N Mapping. If so , this 1:N mapping should be executed in the BPM . Because 1:N Mapping is supported for J2EE Based Adapters, by XI without BPM (SP14 onwards) But in case of Idoc Adapter we need to use BPM to execute 1:N Mapping.

In your case, you are posting multiple Idocs of same message types/Idoc types. SO it is not required to have BPM in your case.
