Integration of Third Party

Hi all,

Can i know the meaning of what a third party system or tool means. Is it only a Non-SAP system or anything else.

What are the various third party tools available. By what all means are they integrated with SAP systems.

The ones known to me are XI/PI,ALE/IDOCS,EDIs,Mercator and other integration tools.

Can anyone elaborate on these. An also how do we integrate them and kindly suggest any useful links and blogs.

Regards,

Hi,

XI is a middleware which is responsible for data transfer between SAP and Non -SAP systems. Data from the sender passes to XI where it is converted into XML Format and transferred to the receiver.

The sender would be transferring data in any format(IDoc,Java,File etc) which would be converted into XML format which the XI understands and then sent to the receiver system wherein it would be reconverted from XML format into the format of the receiver.

Thanks

Hi,

As the name says, anything NON-SAP is a foreign vendor (either netweaver certified ot not) needs to be integrated with SAP. There are thousands of Vendors whom SAP can be intergrated and there are tools to do that.

Netweaver PI is just one of them. Have a look at the blog Netweaver SOA (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-soa) which provides a platform to intergrate business processes.

Other than this check open source integration and available tools (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/opensource-integration).

Thanks Nirmal
