Consistency Check Vs. Reorganization

Dear Experts,

Please let me know the objectives of Reorganization as a measure of APO Adminstration. Also, How does Reorg is different from Consistency Check in terms of their objectives to be acheived?

You musts delete data that you no longer require at regular intervals. For this purpose, the system provides you with the data reorganization program.

The program has two functions:

· Simulation:

If you select this function, the system simulates deletion of the selected data. This allows you to determine whether your selection is correct.

·Delete:

If you select this function, the system deletes the selected data from the database.

1.You call the APO Performance Monitor from the SAP menu, under SCM Basis> Performance Monitor> APO Performance Monitor.

2.You specify the data that the system is to select for deletion.

3.If required, you perform a simulation to check whether the data selection matches your requirements.

4.You choose Delete.

5 The system deletes the selected data from the database

Consisteny checks are performed to check if any inconsistencies exists in the system and repair them accordingly. We can run checks for masterdata and transaactional data. LiveCache consistency check , Planning area, Planning object structure consistency checks, Connectivity Consistency checks, Model and Planning version consistency checks can also be done to ensure system has no inconsistencies. It is recommended to perform consistency checks everyday and usually this is done through background jobs.

Hi Baruah,

Both consistency check and Re-organisation, the objectives are the same but the activities to be performed are different. The objective is to ensure and provide better performance of system to the user in terms of quick retrieval of data, accuracy of data, etc.,

The activities that each one does is that:- Consistency check carried out in system will ensure the difference of transactional data objects between R/3 and APO systems like sales order, production order, purchase order, planned order etc., Once the differences are identified as inconsistencies, iteration can be carried out to maintain consistency of data between both the system. The consistency is needs to be done to maintain effective planning run with accurate data control. The consistency check can be done at various levels like between R/3 and APO systems, at Livecache level, at the model level, Order level, etc.,

The Re-organisation is an activity to delete or archive or synchronize past data by providing more memory and space to the future data to occupy. This needs to be done at a regular interval to improve performance sustainance of the system. The re-organisation of application logs, optimizer logs needs to be taken care which are the major contributors of system memory.

Hope it is clear now. Please confirm
