Dear Experts,

There are Oracle CPU http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/security/critical-patch-updates/cpuapr2008.html.

If I have applied patchset p7237154_10202_HPUX-IA64.zip from 18.08.2008 onto Oracle 10.2.0.2, do I still need to patch CPUJan2008_p6646850_10202_HPUX-IA64.zip from 11.02.2008?

If yes, what are the differences?

Regards,

Agoes

Hi,

You should pay more attention to the sap notes.

For 10.2.0.2 no CPU patch is recommended because they conflict with other patches that SAP consider more important.

If you want to apply a CPU patch then you should be first on 10.2.0.4.

check the following SAP Note:

1295141 CPU patches January 2009 (Oracle Critical Update Program)

Then, the patch CPUJan2008_p6646850_10202_HPUX-IA64.zip is the CPU from January last year.

The p7237154_10202_HPUX-IA64.zip isa "normal patch" (merge fix) that you can find looking at the SAP note

1002062 Additional merge fix for Oracle 10.2.0.2

noyhing to do with the CPU

Thanks, Videl.

I just discussed with my colleague who upgraded Oracle 9g to 10g. In fact, he found out that CPU conflicted with interim patch, therefore he didn't patch CPU.

So, both info help me to explain my customer.

You got full point!
