Add a sandbox in current environment

Hi Folks,

I'm wondering if it is possible to create a sandbox of current system. We have upgraded SRM 3 to 5x. We have upgraded. Now we need to add a sandbox to it. is it going to work if I install SRM5.x directly and restore database? Are things gonna work fine functionality wise?

Thanks,

Hi,

If SRM is upgraded to 5.0 and working fine, a backup of the existing system can be used to create a sandbox environment, keeping in mind the DB remains the same.

You can install a fresh system 5.0 and then restore the backup. No issues with it.

If was in your place i would rather do a system copy (Homogeneous Migration), as it would save time rather than having a clean install and then restore.

Thanks Nirmal

Hi,

I like the idea using sys.copy using sapinst... but this will take alot longer than expected, but will be a clean and smooth way of doing it as I have to install anyways..

Thanks for your input.
