Dear SAP PS Experts !

Can we do consumption based planning MRP from the Project System.

Please help me with the configuration?

As there are many reservations and Purchase requisition and Service requisition created from various activities.

Can we fine tune those so that we can create the MRP Run which will give the entire requiremnet Lists for the enterprises.

This is a PS driven ERP where all the activiteis start from projects from planning to procurement to final selling .

Please guide !!!

Hi,

The MRP run for the project differs from the standard planning run. When the MRP run is carried out for the project, all components for the project are selected (as long as you select them via the project definition and not via subhierarchies). The MRP run generates the dependent requirements of components with a BOM and generates a procurement element for these dependent requirements.

For e.g.material X was assigned to the project. The MRP run generates a planned order for the reservation. Since X has a BOM with three components X-1,X-2,X-3, MRP run generates reservations for the corresponding dependent requirements and generates three further planned orders.

Goods are received for the purchase orders for components X-1, X-2, and X-3. The goods receipt increases the project stock of the materials. Commitments according to the order value are reduced by the goods receipt and stocks are formed according to the standard costs (for standard price control) or the order value (for moving price control).

The planned order for X is converted into a production order. The planned costs for materials are only displayed for valuated project stock and for collective stock.

The project stocks X-1, X-2, and X-3 are consumed by the production order at the price calculated in valuation. The respective actual costs are debited from the production order.

The final confirmation is entered for the production order and material X is delivered to the project stock.

With standard price control, the stock value for material X in the project stock is increased by the standard price of the material project stock segment. With moving price control, the stock value is increased by the actual costs of the production order.

A goods issue is posted for the network for assembly X.

This reduces the project stock (crediting the WBS element). The actual costs are debited from the network.

The actual network activity costs are aggregated and displayed for the higher-level WBS elements.

You can only use advance (preliminary) procurement if you are working with sales order or project stock. This means that you must use item category "L" when you assign your components to ensure that stock can be managed. In order to calculate the requirements for procurement with those of consumption, the components must be managed internally in sales order or project stock.

For e.g.Consider two scenarios as mentioned below.

In the first scenario, the components will be produced internally, in the second case the components will be sold.

1st Scenario: Assemblies that need to be produced well in advance of consumption can be allocated as stock-items ("L"), with the indicator "planned independent requirement" set for the procurement activity. The MRP run then generates a planned order which triggers a production process. The production order will be delivered to stock where it will be consumed later by a second allocation to the consuming assembly activity.

2nd Scenario: Assemblies that need to be ordered well in advance of consumption can be allocated as stock-items ("L"), with the indicator "preliminary purchase requisition" set for the procurement activity. The system then generates a preliminary purchase requisition, which triggers a purchasing process. The goods receipt for the component builds up stock. You can allocate the component later to the consuming activity (e.g. assembly) thus reserving and consuming the stock.

Hello Tushar Vhora ,

Thanks for your response It was a Wonderful explaination of the Subject ........

But tell me one thing as you have said there will be requirements generted in the PS once we run the MRP which will create the Plkanned orders ...

Will the System consider the current stock at plant Level the pending PO and all other relavent MRP elements.

Or the MRP will JUST create the Planned orders without Considering the Stock at plant Level for BOM with Item Category L.

One More thing , you have mentioned the Project stock ...So in PO the Account assignement is to be taken as P manuall or the Planned order to PO will Have the assignement to P item category.

Which one Do you all would advice Project Level MRP to be carried out or Plant Based ...

In my case the Plant and the Project Defination are the Same for Building Construction.

Plant - Building Store

Project -Building .....WBS and Others.

Please suggest.

Hi,

1. Will the System consider the current stock at plant Level the pending PO and all other relavent MRP

elements. Or the MRP will JUST create the Planned orders without Considering the Stock at plant

Level for BOM with Item Category L.

As said earlier, when MRP run is carried out for the project, all components for the project are

selected as long as you select them via the project definition and not via subhierarchies.

Further MRP run will generate dependent requirements for only those components having a BOM &

in turn will generate a procurement element for these dependent requirements.

For these BOM Material having components, MRP run generates reservations for the corresponding

dependent requirements and generates respectinve planned orders. Planned orders will be created

only for reservation.

2. One More thing , you have mentioned the Project stock ...So in PO the Account assignement is to

be taken as P manuall or the Planned order to PO will Have the assignement to P item category.

Planned order to Prodcution Order will have the assignment to P.

3. Which one Do you all would advice Project Level MRP to be carried out or Plant Based ...

If BOM material is assigned to project, go for Project level MRP.
