Problem with RFC connection

Hi List,

I am a Tivoli consultant implementing a Tivoli monitoring solution for SAP. Things have been running fine for the last 6 months except recently the CCMS monitor has been failing. I have been looking through the log files (dev_rfc logfile) and this message reoccurs when the problem exists (see below).

        • Trace file opened at 20040805 155448 CUT, REL 40B, VER 3

======> Connect to SAP gateway failed

Connect_PM DEST=ABM, GWHOST=usaci217, GWSERV=sapgw00, ASHOST=usaci217, SYSNR=00

LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host

ERROR partner not reached (host usaci217, service 3300)

TIME Thu Aug 5 15:54:48 2004

RELEASE 40B

COMPONENT NI (network interface)

VERSION 31

RC -10

MODULE niuxi.c

LINE 635

DETAIL NiPConnect

SYSTEM CALL connect

ERRNO 79

ERRNO TEXT A remote host refused an attempted connect operation.

COUNTER 178

My question is, is this a generic SAP message ? What does it mean ? Are there configurble parameters on the SAP side of things to resolve this issue ? Any input welcome. I have seen similar messages in the archives but they are not applicable to my problem.

Thanks

Stuart

Try to ping "usaci217" from your PC if you get no response ask your local administrator if that is the correct hostname of the SAP system you are trying to connect to.

>ERROR partner not reached (host usaci217, service 3300)

Also verify that your system number is "00"

Typically this problem is due to network conflicts, basically bad name or the PC you are attempting to connect from can not "see" this server in the network.

Yes, it is.

As it says: A remote host refused an attempted

connect operation.

The reason may be that there is an authetication conflict.

Ma advice is you get in contact with an SAP Administrator...
