QM- UNPLANNED CHARACTERISTICS

Hi friends

When we inspect a material by QP01 - Inspn Plan, is there a possibility of adding newly and inspecting extra MIC's which are not in the Inspection plan ( without going to the QP02 - Change inspn plan). The question arises because there is a entry in the configuration SPRO screen as UNPLANNED CHARACTERISTICS. Is my understanding right.

Thanks for your feedback. But tell me if in the RR screen, system will only allow results recording for the MIC's in the Inspection plan only and in addition to these MIC's in the inspection plan,system will not allow new MIC entries since all other blank rows in the screen will be blocked. How to make unplanned characteristics entries then.What are the settings to be made in the SPRO screen, if any.

Selva,

If you want to assign unplanned characteristic to Inspection lot then go directly to QE51N screen and below General tab there should be different button with different sign for diff. purpose.

Now click on button with sign, name - "create additional chara." there you will get one MIC selection pop - up to add MIC in specific operation of Lot, from there you can select unplanned MIC & assign to lot.

hi

if u want to add inspection char. to inspection lot which is not present in inspection plan u can directly do that in t code QA32 here u select the lot go on RR and on RR screen genral tab page u have an button create additional char. click on that u get an pop up window u select the char. and plant and enter u get another pop up here u enter ur all data and enter char. is added in inspection lot.

Hi Selva,

We can add new MIC's directly on result recording screen without entering in QP01

these run time addition is called as unplanned characteristics.

Hi Selva,

Your understanding is perfect. Let me elaborate it once again ...

In Quality Inspection while we are using PLANNED CHARACTERISTICS; we assign MIC in Inspection Plan before hand. During Logistical Process ( GR,Production Order Release,Goods Issue,Stock Transfer), Inspection Lot gets created with Inspection Plan assigned to it. We can do RR in this Inspection Plan against the MIC.

In certain cases; Business Process is such that we can not predict Inspection Characteristic before hand. In such a case, at the time of Result Recording we can add UNPLANNED CHARACTERISTIC in the Inspection Lot and record result against that MIC, which is not a part of the Inspection Plan.

The requirement here is that the UNPLANNED CHARACTERISTIC should be MIC and the important part is that this change is added only in the Inspection Lot and not in the Inspection Plan.

To enable this we need the setting in SPRO as you rightly said.
