Hi ,
What is the importent of SLD in Netviewer.
thanks
Krishna
Hi,
SLD is the essential part of SAP NETWEAVER , which plays a key role when you have a Dual Stack & Stan alone Java Stack.
SLD keep informed rest of the System in the landscape about the Availability & Non- AVailability of System.s
As you aware java developement take place in an individual developement infrastructure there is no centralized concept of controlling the objects name available which is resolved through SLD.
And pool of landscapes are combined together and You can Integarate Solution Manager.
There is some good elearning material available in SDN, do refere.
Thanks
Ahamed

Hi,
SLD is the central information repository for your system landscape.
SLD stores information about the current system landscape.
A data collection process in each system in the landscape provides this information to the SLD.
This process is managed by the data supplier administration.
The data suppliers collect data not only about SAP systems (SAP products, database parameters, hosts, clients, and so on), but also about any third-party products that are installed.
Please view the below URL for Architecture Overview for SLD-Netviewer:
Thanks,
Praveen.

Hi,
SLD as it stands (System Landscape Directory) keeps all important information about your lanscape. However, this has to be manually configured. SLD has been a part of JAVA Stack from WAS 640 onwards and has a option of installing it during the installlation time.
Its not mandatory, BUT if you intend to do a ABAP + JAVA communication (E.G. XI or PI) a SLD is a must as it takes care of the communication between ABAP and JAVA.
Do a seach on SLD on SDN or Help.sap and you will find huge information on how you can configure it.
Thanks Nirmal
