Set up front-end printing. Then have users specify the printer LOCL when they print. This will send all print jobs to whatever printer is set as the default on their PC.

1. Log in to your SAP system and to to t-code SPAD.

2. On the Devices/Servers tab, choose Output Devices.

3. Click on the Display button.

4. If necessary, click on the Change button.

5. Give a printer name.

6. Go to Device Attributes tab.

7. Device Type is SWIN.

8. Location is free text.

9. Go to Spool Access Method tab.

10. Set Access Method as F.

11. In Host Printer, enter u201C__DEFAULTu201D. (This sends the output to the default printer of the PC.)

12. Save.

Or you can set up local printing. Local refers to the spools not the printer:

1. Log in to your SAP system and to to t-code SPAD.

2. In output devices, select a device from the list and click the Display button. Alternately, you may just create a device here.

3. Click the Change Button, if necessary, to enter change mode.

4. Go to the Device/Attributes tab.

5. Select a device type which matches your printer. (Example HPLJ4) (Note: most printers/drivers are downward compatible. So, if you have an HP model newer than any of the definitions available, you can use an older HP modelu2019s driver/definition so long as they are the same basic type: inkjet, laser printer, daisy wheel, etc.)

6. The location and message fields are free-text and can be anything useful to your users.

7. Go to the access method tab.

8. In Host Spool Access Method field, select C for Windows or L for UNIX.

9. In Host Printer field, use the printer name. It defaults to __default.

10. Accept defaults for other values and save.

Good Luck.

Try using Front end printing.

SAP will use the default printer which is configured on your local desktop from where you access the SAP gui.

If you need to know more about frontend printing, read:
