SRM MDM catalog - MDM data updates

Hi,

Could you please let me know from where the data to the MDM flows in SRM MDM context? I just want to know the real time scenarios regarding it.

What happens when the supplier updates/modifies their system with new data and how this affects MDM?.What processes happens in MDM repositories.

Please let me know your inputs?

Hi Raj,

With SRM MDM catalog there are more better features and performance for displaying supplier Relation Management information ie Supplier and Material Master data.

So SAP has come out with the SRM-MDM Catalog.we can use the SRM system with the MDM system in collaboration to achive this.

The master data is fetched from the SRM system into MDM system where master data enrichment and governance can be done .

This information can then be access by the SRM system as a catalog for futher processing through the WAS.

Please clarify below doubts.

1.If the supplier catalogs are available in SRM and mass loaded into MDM.

If thats the case,How the supplier catalogs in SRM/MDM are synchronized with latest data from suppliers?.Is that is scope of SRM MDM 2.0?.

2.Are we having a separate repository for SRM MDM apart from Product repository? or Is it possible to use a Single self contained Product repository to address all the requirements like SRM-MDM ,Product catalogs?

Hi Raj,

If the supplier catalogs are available in SRM and mass loaded into MDM.

- The MDM system gets the supplier information data through an import process triggered from SRM system to the MDM system.This process is not dynamic so it is not possible for MDM system to get upto date information from SRM system unless this upto date information is send from the SRM system to MDM.The different version of the SRM MDM catalog are only for matching with the different MDM version.

- Yes we are having a separate dedicated repository for SRM data and this is called the SRM-MDM Catalog vs1.0/2.0.This is an .a2a archive file whcih needs to be unarchived on the MDM server to work with.It comes along with the SRM MDM business content and can be downloaded from the service market place.
