Importing hierarchial data

Former Member

Hi,

I have an XML file that contains the Merchandise hierarchial data that got extracted from and R/3 system(SAP-Retail).

I am trying to import this data in the Import Manager, however the import status is still diabled. I am using the maps provided by SAP for Hierarchies.

Anybody can throw some light on this.

Thanks,

Triveni.

Hi Mohan,

In the Import manager, under Import status tab, you see the very first line which gives some message. If it says "Ready to Import", then the red exclamation on the tool bar is enabled and once you click it, it will start the importing process.

Thanks and Regards

Thats absolutely correct, however my problem is that the 'Execute Import' button itself is diabled which means that its not ready to import.

I am trying to synchroize the check tables merchandise hierarchial data with the XSD SAP has provided .

I went to import Manager, opened the map SAP provided, and have done the auto map too , may iam missing something that is why the 'Execute Import' is diabled.

Hi,

"Execute import" button is only enabled

under "Import status" tab.

If you are outside the "Import status" tab, it is always disabled.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Subbu,

Thank you for all your replies . I understand that the 'Execute Import' would be enabled only if you are under Import Status tab.

My problem is that I dont know whether I have got understood it right .

I am trying to initialize the synchronized check tables for merchandise hierarchy like the way we import other check tables eg.countries. However in this hierarchy case the execute import is still disabled .

May be I am missing some procedure to be followed for hierarchial import.

Cheers,

Subbu,

I am getting an action item

"MAP 'NodeName_english<split hierarchy> field values(s)"

under the Import status Tab.

Hi,

It means, you did not do value mapping for the Hierarchy.

Go to the "Map fields/values" tab and in the second grid do the value mapping.

Thanks and Regards

Did you do the value mapping as I mentioned in my previous reply?.

There is a map already set when I open the map file

the map set is NodeName_English<split> to Name[DF]

Ok.

In the Map fields/values tab

in the Field mapping Grid

You mapped NodeName_English<split> to Name[DF].

There is another grid, which says Value conversion and mapping .

Did you do any value mapping here in this grid ?

Thanks

Yes, under the Value Conversion and Mapping tab ,

I cliked on the on of the branches below NodeName_English and added that as a child to Product categories and its automatically mapped.

Still you are not able to import ?

If so, do you mind putting that xml file for merchandise Hierarchy, so that I can analyze more by lookint at it.

Thanks and Regards

I tried copy that huge xml into a smaller chunk to send it to you , and again with the small XML just to see if it works.....

IT WORKS..GREAT...so I figured out that there was some problem with the data in that whole chunk of XML

I really appreciate all your patience in replying to all my questions.

Thank you subbu.
