Does SRM allow new PO items to be added and then replicated again to SAP?

Hiya.

Please can you clarify if SRM allows for new purchase order line items to be added once the Cart and PO has been approved in workflow and then replicated again to backend SAP system?

On our system apps monitor in RZ20, it shows an error in RZ20:

'PO 3000000xxx: Instance 3000000xxx of object type PurchaseOrder c ould not be changed'.

When the user adds new items, the PO has status 'error in process'. This I can replicate.

If we want the end user to have the ability to add new line items to PO, is any new customisation required?

warmest regards. Pooja x

Hi Pooja,

You can do onething. Instead of directly adding a new item to the PO , you create a new shpping cart with the extra line item so that it follows the normal process of approval flow and follow on document creation. Once the shopping cart is approved , the same can be adopted into the purchase order in the R/3 by the PO maintainer.

Instead if you are using Extended Classic scenario , you can follow the procedure as suggested by Ganesh.

Hope this answers helps you.

Kalyan

Hi,

SRM does allow adding of new line items to existing PO and ordering again. You need to find out the exact reason why the PO failed. In RZ20, you should see for any application error.Check if this note is applicable for you.

Note 973952 - Meaningful error messages not shown in Application monitors

Pooja,

I assume you are using Extended Classic Scenario, and it's a standard feature to change/add new items to the PO in SRM which up on approval will update ECC PO. The error may be due to connection issues between SRM and ECC or something else, check the following

1) First go to Process Purchase Order

2) Add items in the edit mode

3) Click Check and see if you find any error, if you find errors right here, then there are issues in the PO

4) Order the PO, approve it if needed

5) Now, check the status of it after a few mins, if it says "Error in Process", then its definetely something else, may be some BAPI/BADI/Custom fields not making it all the way to ECC

Also, I am assuming that your initial PO is in ECC without any issues before you go to Change PO

Let me know.

Thanks,

Hi,

This can be achieved by new enhancement from the existing one. It is not SRM standard functionality

with one of our client we used to create a new shopping cart based on the existing P.O created.

It is called Amendment Shopping cart.

In the shopping cart screen a box will appear we have to enter the P.O no the value is fetched from backend and then we add one or more line for shopping cart and it is created and approved based on the new value.

Hi,

Our requirement is simpler than Amendment Shopping cart. All we want is to allow the PO admin person functionality to enter new line items. If these exceed approval threshold, it will automatically go to approval via SRM workflow. We currently uplift order values and quantities and this works fine. We now also want to enter any new line items on the PO screen and not Cart screen.

Please clarify.
