The difference is without EHP1 you are missing a bunch of new features. You will have to ask your application / development guys if the new functions are needed or not. Besides that EHP1 is still in ramp up, and i have not seen a ga release date until now...

[What functionallity is contained in SAP enhancement package 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and what is the release timeline of it?|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-70ehp1#section3]

Personally i would install NW 7.0 SP Stack 18 now. But i expect EHP1 to come very soon, it is maybe only a couple of days away, but who knows...

Regards, Michael

BTW, have a look at this thread too:

Hi Ladovic

Support pack provides fixes for bugs with some new functionality

and

The enhancement package for the SAP ERP application provides new or improved software functionality

The ramp-up of enhancement package 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 consists of two scenarios:

u2022 Information Lifecycle Management

u2022 Adobe Flash Islands for Web Dynpro ABAP

Information Lifecycle Management

Information has a life cycle: It is created, it lives within databases and systems, it changes, and it is archived and eventually destroyed. How we create, store, retrieve, and destroy information is termed information lifecycle management (ILM).

Aspects of ILM

Data Archiving

Data archiving focuses on effective data management and has two major purposes - system load reduction and legal compliance support. Both primarily use the same processes: analysis and categorization, the archiving process itself, and access to archived data. Benefits include increased system availability, better use of resources, and improved system performance

Retention Management

Retention management is at the core of every information lifecycle management process. It involves different tools and methods for managing all aspects of retaining data mainly based on legal requirements. We have divided retention management into five major areas of focus: retention policy management, ILM-aware storage integration, and managing the destruction of data, and the two areas that can be subsumed under legal case management: legal hold management and automated e-disc

Retention Warehouse

Retention Warehouse provides a standardized solution for decommissioning legacy systems and methods for tax and other type of reporting on the data from the decommissioned system. System decommissioning is becoming increasingly important especially for large companies. This is mainly due to more mergers and acquisitions taking place but also because of a strong trend towards system landscape harmonization and consolidation, and increased efforts for cost-cutting in most companies. Retention Warehouse addresses the business scenario "End-of-life system.

Integration of Adobe Flash Island for Web Dynpro ABAP

The Web Dynpro framework provides UI elements that dramatically reduce development effort and enforce a unified look and feel of Web Dynpro-based applications. However, several use cases require richer UI capabilities that are not available with this set of UI elements. To support such use cases, Adobe Flash Island is supported within the Web Dynpro for ABAP framework in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EhP1. Adobe Flash Island allows you to create rich Internet components that support integration, data exchange, and interaction with applications built with Web Dynpro for ABAP.

The development of Flash applications requires the Adobe Flex Builder, which is not part of the SAP NetWeaver shipment.

Data binding and eventing is handled with a library built and shipped by SAP. The interface of Adobe Flash Island in a Web Dynpro component is defined by using data sources and their properties and events and event parameters. Both these can be bound to the context. With Adobe Flex Builder, an Adobe Flash application is created and loaded into the Mime repository of a Web Dynpro component. This Mime object is referenced by the Flash Island UI element. Debugging is provided on the Web Dynpro component and the Adobe Flex/Flash application.

"Creating user interfaces with Adobe Flash Islands for Web Dynpro" is a ramp-up scenario of the upcoming NetWeaver 7.0 EhP1 release. A limited number of customers can apply for this development scenario which allows you to enhance Web Dynpro ABAP applications with custom controls.

Furthermore, features for selected capabilities of SAP NetWeaver will be contained that can be requested by customers as part of a technical upgrade to enhancement package 1. This applies to

u2022 Business Intelligence

u2022 Portal

u2022 Business Rule Framework plus

Business Intelligence

Enhancements in BI are as follows

Multiple enhancements to the cube write-back function

Delta write back

Ability for the caller to handle incorrect master data values (create new values; fail whole load; only fail invalid records)

Many enhancements to the MDX engine

Several new keywords were added (mostly string manipulation functions)

Many general fixes, as well as performance optimizations

NW BI Statistics GUID exposed in APIu2019s

This allows a performance trace to be followed from the BPC call to NetWeaver

Ability to copy data between InfoCube with different InfoObjects

A new query is automatically generated when a cube is created

This is the query used when accessing the data via MDX

The naming convention of this query is: !!O<InfoProviderName>

Other small miscellaneous fixes and enhancements for existing APIu2019s

New features in the Portal for SAP Enhancement Package 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0

Navigation Cache - Preloading Roles: Imagine having great portal performance, especially when you are the first user to access a certain role. The cachepreloader service allows you to upload all of a user's roles into the navigation cache. Administrators can specify multiple user IDs, and when the cachepreloader service starts, all of the roles belonging to the specified users are uploaded into the cache.

Setting a Default Property Category: Until now, when opening the Property Editor, the first property category to open by default was Information. Content administrators can now specify default property categories for iViews and pages using the Default Property Category property. They can also set the new default on an iView or page template so that all objects based on the template use the same default property category.

Business Rule Engine written in ABAP

Its features are:

Various visualization means such as decision tables, decision trees, text rules, formulas

ABAP-OO API

WebDynpro ABAP User Interface

Service enabled

Modularized (switch on and off features and expressiveness, add functionality by expression type classes)

Simulation and Processing Traces

Transport

XML Export and Import

Time dependency of rules, versioning and histrorization

Implicit unit and currency conversion

Code generation

Open to connect with other BRMS

hope this will help you
