No item category available (Table T184 OR TEXT BOM)

I cant figure out the combination.

please help.

the error is coming because the item category type bom has not been assigned to order type OR

goto

SPRO----SALES AND DISTRIBUTION---SALES--SALES DOCUMENTSSALES DOCUMENT ITEM-ASSIGN ITEM CATEGORIES

where can i assign the usage? in the CMIR but whats the transaction number ofr CMIR?

IN TCODE VOV4 THERE IS A FIELD USG

CMIR Creation VD51 - and then select the item and go to details and there you can assign the Item usage.

Please check material master if the item category group is maintained for the material.

I think item category determination is happening as system is not finding item category.

According to below error in VOV4 - item category is missing for doc typ OR usage TEXT and higher level item category BOM.

Item category gets determined based on order type, item category of material, item usage such as TEXT & higher level item category. Check the setting if everything is correct and accordingly maintain item category in VOV4.
