it is not allowing me to go further and result into an unseen error as

CJS- 00030 assertion failed Sdbversion.readFromCD

If your installation media is on NFS and you unpacked it on Windows, make sure the file SDBINST is executable.

??

That solution is only valid if there is already an instance installed and there was a corruption. If this is the first installation of a Livecache this will not solve you issue.

Livecache should be installed using sapinst - which will call SDBINST with the correct parameters.

Markus,

I am doing SCM 5.1 installation first time.

Previously on the same machine SCM 5.0 was installed along with live cache.

I have uninstalled SCM 5.0 instance by sapinst.

But i am not aware how to uninstall Live cache instance which was present on this same unix machine.

I have gone though the guide but ...i am confuse whether

SCM 5.1 ->Oracle-> central system installation to be carried out first

( where i got this error )

or

SCM 5.1 -> Live cache -> live cache sever installation to be carried out first before

installing SCM instance.

and does this require any SAPDB software installation.... as it would be required for SCM

as Oracle 10G

Please explain me the flow i should follow.

Regards,

RR

Ok - you should have mentioned that before - this would have made the problem more clear.

You can choose the "uninstall" section from the sapinst menu.

I have done uninstall section from Sapinst menu from SCM installation master CD

but there it never asked me about uninstalling Sapcd software.

Also could you please explain the flow

whether

Live cache server installation need to be run first from SCM 5.1 Inst master

or

SCM 5.1 central system on oracle installation need to be run from SCM 5.1 Inst master

what is the first step ??

...is there any step involved which include installation of sapdb RDBMS software ...( like what we do for oracle RDBMS software installation )..... if yes ...the what is procedure for installation of sadb software.

Please help me out with this confusion.

SCM 5.1 is installed first. The livecache installation is part of the "post installation tasks" (in the installation guide).

The livecache installation does exactly that. It extracts the software from the CD and installs it. No need to do things "manually" but the steps outlined in the guide (such as marking clients non-relevant for livecache etc.)

Thanks Markus,

So i am going ahed with SCM 5.1 installation first...

could you also suggess whether i need to select Live cache used in SAP system

or deselect the same. ( there is a checkbox )

during sapinst selection screen for Livecache parameters during SCM 5.1 installation

thats where i am currently stopped.

-o sdb -g sdba -b" finished with status TST_ERROR

Are you sure you're installing the correct binaries?

Are you installing on PA-RISC processor or Itanium-2 processor? What's the output of

file <path>/SDBINST

?

Thanks Markus,

I was installing on PA-RISC platform and after account lock installation just went through.

I have also finished Live cache servere installation.

Thanks once again for your help.
