Next inspection date calculation problem

Dear Experts,

We have one material QMMAT for which we maintained inspection interval as 180 days .The initial GR date for the material is 05/03/2008. The material is sold and returned back from customer on 16/02/2009 for which inspection lot with inspection type 05 created on 16/02/2009 and UD done on the same date .

Now the the next inspection date based on inspection interval maintained in material master will be 16/08/2009 . But when running QA07 on 16/02/2009 this material QMMAT also considered and again one inspection lot with inspection type 09 created on 16/08/2009 ( which should not happen as the next inspection date should be 16/08/2009).

Now we have made the usage decision on 16/02/209 and now the next inspection date 16/08/2009 . When we ran QA07 system is not creating any inspection lot this time. We dont know why system created an inspection lot again unnecessary second time after UD for customer return lot done . Please help .

Thanks.

Dear Saplover

You have understood me wrong. Im asking you the Initial run days.

Ok anyway let me explain. For this particalur batch the next inspection date (NID) was 05 / 09 /2008. you have not run QA07 for this batch as there was no stock. Then the customer return took place. but i think the next inspection date of the batch would have been 05.09.2008 (MSC2N) even after you had given UD for 05 inspection lot as i presume 05 will not have changed or effected the next inspection date for the batch.

Now when you ran Qa07 on 21/02/2009 the batch which had 05.09.2008 as the NID was already due . so it created a lot of 09. Now please check when the UD for this 09 lot was given. based on that UD date system would have calculated NID as 05 / 09 /2008

Please revert back with your feedback

Dear Gajesh,

Yes the system has behaved the same way you have explained and it is not changed the next inspection date when the UD done for the return delivery inspection lot. That why it has created one more inspection lot during QA07 based on the next inspection date it has calculated during production GR lot .

In the above case , the system has calculated the next inspection date based on UD date perfectly for inpection lot with inspection type 04 and 09 , but it has not calculated the next inspection date for inspection type 05 . Is there is any control exists in customizing for the system to behave so or it is a standard behaviour.

Thanks.

Hello

please let me know what is the initial run days you had maintained when you ran QA07.

It seems to me that the lot was created based on the next inspection date 15.08.2009

and based on the UD given for 09 inspection the next inspection date has got changed to 15.08.2009

I dont think 05 lot will have any effect on recurring inspection

Dear Gajesh,

Thanks for your patience. We have not given any initial run in the QA07. Our only concern is why system is unnecessarily create an inspection lot ( 09 ) while running QA07 on 24/01/2009 for a material batch for which UD done ( inspection type 5 )on 21/01/2009 and whose next inspection date due on 21/07/2009 .

Thanks.

Dear Gajesh ,

To be precise , following are the complete details for that batch

-

Inspection Type 04

Initial GR from production u2013 05 /03 /2008 and UD on 05 / 03 /2008

Next inspection date would be 05 / 09 /2008

-

Inspection type 05

Posting of returns from customer 21/01/2009

UD done on 21/01/209

If calculation of next inspection date is based on UD then the next inspection date would be 21 / 07 /2009

If system is not set for calculating the next inspection date for customer returns lots , then this UD date will not be considered for calculating next inspection date ( which should be actually 21 / 07 /2009 ) . Then only the date of UD done during initial GR will be considered ( and hence the next inspection date will be 05/09/2009 and due for inspection ) while running QA07

-

Inspection type 09

Posting date for recurring inspection 24/01/2009

Next inspection date - 15.08.2009

Thanks
