HI Ravi

When you goto transaction rz10, you will rightly get 3 profiles, namely

Default profile

Start profile

Instance Profile

Out of the three, select the instance profile ( the one with the SID and the instance number) and get in the change mode by clicking on the spectacle button in the bar.

Further you will find the parameter rdisp/wp_no_btc in this profile. This parameter indicates the no. of background work processes set for this particular instance,

Change the value for this parameter. Also note that the no. ny which u increase the batch proceses, also reduce the dialog process by the same number in parameter rdisp/wp_no_dia.

Restart the system and the changes will come into effect.

I hope this helps you

Hello Ravi,

Have u imported the profiles of the serverPlease do this:

first go to RZ10,then utiities and import all profile of active servers

This will import ur active profiles

Now your instance profile will be <SID>_<Instanzname>

others are default and start profile

You will have to go to extended maintenance.

Suppose u do not find the parameter, add the parameter, give the value and save it

Then u will have to activate the profile

Hope it helps

Hi Ravi

you have to check the memory as well before you increase no of work processes

Number of batch work processes = RAM/1024

Its recomended to have min of 2 batch work process

hope this will help you

Hi,

>Number of batch work processes = RAM/1024

There is absolutely no magical formula like this one.

You have to adapt the number of batch work processes to your specific load and spacific hardware ressources.

If SAP administration was so simple, basis admins would have been replaced by robots a long time ago !

Hi,

Increase the number of work processes by adding BTC processes with RZ10.

Or convert some DIA processes to BTC processes with operational modes of RZ04.

Hi,

To increase the no of Background Process, Go to Tranasaction RZ10, select profile " Instance Profile",

select Basic Maintenace and select Button Change, Changing the Bakground process which will be based on your RAM. Background Proces=RAM/1024 (Min 2, Max 3).

Hope this helps.
