Hi Gurus,
We want to know to what value the CPIC_MAX_CONV parameter should be set.
Presently in one server where XI is running we had set the value to 200. But some times some transaction like sproxy,sxmb_ifr
suddenly stop working at this value of 200.
If we set the value to 500 then also we have the same problem. Can anybody help me in setting the value of the variable so that the problem never occurs.
System is HP-UX
RAM is 6 GB

Hi,
How can we know the no of connections are open at a time. Is there any tcode which where we can find that.
If we set the value of the variable CPIC_MAX_CONV to 500 what actually happens. Can there be any memory related issue with this setting of the variable. How can we find whether the hardware or OS can support that many connections or not.
Regards

There's not really a fixed number to set for this parameter, but normally 500 should be fine. Make sure your RFC connections are closed properly.
Please also take a look at SAP notes 314530, 613901 and 316877.

Hi,
But when we try to set the value of CPIC_MAX_CONV to 500 then also the transactions are not working. According to the notes it depends on the load. How can we find how much load is expected. Is there any way to calculate the load. Is this just a trial and error method to set the value of he variable.

We have increase this environment variable CPIC_MAX_CONV to 2000 along with the profile parameters rdisp/max_arq and rdisp/max_comm_entries to 2000... we have occasions where our SAP XI system will hang with no error messages viewable anywhere.
What is this variable limiting? Can we monitor if we are getting close to this limit with netstat commands on our unix system? what to look for? all connections including connections in FIN_WAIT_2 and CLOSE_WAIT status or just ESTABLISHED connections?
We need to be able to be able to monitor this so we can know when we are hitting the limit. We process 100,000+ messages in our SAP XI system per day using all the adapters. We have a mixture of synchronous and asynchronous messages. These are critical interfaces and we crashed last week because the whole system hung... I am assuming we hit this limit... but no logs are able to indicate why we froze.
