In SAP 4.6C you need to install SAP Exchange connector in order to send mail,

Read,

PS: I don't know if this is still available at SAP Marketplace... Also look at SMTP plugin

Hi,

Yes its possible to send email from 46c in windows environment using sendmail. Please google sendmail and you will be able to download it.

After you download it please create a dir e.g C:\usr\sap\Sendmail and exterct the exe in this folder.

Configure : mlsomadm.exe mailgw.ini.

mlsomadm.exe will be located on usr kernel dir and make sure you login with sid adm

During the above configuration of mailgw.ini, it will ask for outbound email configuration : Check below example.

E.G

Parameters for outbound mail (program mlunxsnd)

-

Sendmail Command [D:\usr\sap\Mail\sendmail -t] : D:\usr\sap\sendmail\sendmail

THis should configure email and you are good to go.

Hope this helps and reqrd points if helpful

Hi There,

Please find the web address below. I used this company before to integrate into one of the ERP software but needs the SMTP server separately.

http://www.indigostar.com/sendmail.htm

You can go through user manual at http://www.indigostar.com/smuman.htm

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Google sendmail and you should be abale to get the software for windows. Sendmail is now called as indigomail.

Download and extract in /usr/sap/sendmail.

Now what you have to do is make sap talk with this external program. To do this you have to configure mailgw.ini.

To do it, login with sidadm and call mlsomadm.exe mailgw.ini. from cmd.exe

Follow the instructions and for outbound follow the below example for sendmail

Parameters for outbound mail (program mlunxsnd)

-

Sendmail Command D:\usr\sap\Mail\sendmail -t : D:\usr\sap\sendmail\sendmail

Once you are done, confugure the SAP_INTERNET_GATEWAY RFC which is there in TCP/IP of SM59 and point to

D:\usr\sap\RQA\sys\exe\run\mlunxsnd.exe

You are done.

Thanks Nirmal

Hai,

As of SAP Web Application Server 6.10, the SAP system's kernel supports SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) directly, meaning that e-mails can be exchanged between the SAP system and any SMTP-compliant mail server without the need for any additional external components. In the outbound direction, the SAP system passes the mails to a single mail server, whereas in the inbound direction mails can be received from any number of mail servers.

I guess it is not possible in 4.6C.

Hi,

With no external software, I don't think it is possible.

R/3 4.6c has no ICM to manage the SMTP protocol...
