Partner determination procedures for Documents

Hi Friends

I have one basic questions regarding partner determination procedure .

1.We assign partner determination procedure to account group. When we create sales document, partner functions will flow from sold to party mastere record which have been allowed in account group of that sold to party ? Just correct me if I am wrong .

2.Again, why should we assign partner determination procedure to sales document type in SPRO .

3. And why should we assign partner determination procedure to delivery document and billing document again . Will partner functions not flow from Sales document to Delivery Doc and delivery doc to Billing doc ?.

-->System will call Partner functions while creating sales document based on partner determination procedure assignment to that sales document.

-->If you dont assign the partner determination procedure to your sales document type system with same partner functions which are maintained in the customer master system will not copy the partner functions from the customer master.Because the partner determination procedure contains partner functions based on those functions system will consider customer master partner functions in the sales order..

-->You can have different partner fucntion at sales order level by maintaining partner function in your sales document partner determination procedure and assign that procedure to your document type.

-->Through Header and item patner dtermination procedures assignment to your sales document type you can have different partner functions at header level and at item level.

Hi

Suppose in the Procedure for Customer master data, you have assigned only four Partner functions SP,SH,BP and PY and the Procedure is assigned to the Account group.

Taking this account group, when you will create a Customer master data, in the Sales area data > Partner function tab , you can only add those four Partner functions.

Suppose, taking the above created customer if you will create a Sale order then all those Partner functions will flow from the customer master to the document.

Now, let us say, you want to add a "Sales employee" for the Sales order as you have decided to give some incentive to Sales employees responsible ,for which you want to enter this in all orders.

But, system will not allow to add as this Partner function "Sales employee" was not there in the customer master.

Therfore, you have to create a "Partner determination Procedure for Sales document header".

In this Procedure, beside the four Partner functions(SP,SH,BP,PY), you have to add fifth Partner function "SE".

Assign the Procedure to the Sales document type as Header is controlled by Sales doc type.

Now only system will allow to add the Partner function "Sale employee" in the Sale order > Header details > Partner tab.

Similar is the case for assigning the Procedure to the Delivery type and Billing type.

Partner determination procedures can be set in these levels

1 .Customer master controlled by account group

2. Sales doc header controlled by Sales doc type

3..Sales doc item controlled by item category

4. Delivery header controlled by delivery doc type

5. shipment controlled by shipment type

6. Billing doc header controlled by billing type

7. Billing doc item controlled by billing type

8. Sales activities controlled by sales activity type

suppose for a account group you create 4 partner functions say SP,SH,BP,PY as mandatory

Then you create a CMR in that account group and say the customer no is 10000 and in his master record these 4 partner functions will automatically appear

Then if you have defined an extra partner function say special stock partner SB and assigned it your order type OR then when you create a sales order for 10000 there will be 5 partner functions which is inclusive of this SB also and only for order type OR

This is what has happened to you on saturday and there was a special partner SB assigned at that level Usually SB special stock partner is made mandatory mainly for consignment process

That means at each of these 8 levels you can add or remove partner functions as per your requirement

Suppose at delivery you add one more partner function say Credit rep As GG (this is example of mine only not standard) then when you create delivery for this 10000 there will be 6 partner functions that is SP,SH,BP,PY,SB,GG

So at all these 8 levels partner setup can be modified according to the business requirement and that is why it is defined in all these places apart from CMR and the whole thing starts from CMR and that is where we define the customer

If you gothro all these you will be clearer

Partner determination initially is confusing and once you get a grip of the logic it is very easy
