Business Area Determination

Hi Gurus,

I created a BOM Material. The BOM has header at Pricing Level. When I tried creating the sales order by entering the BOM header, the error "Business area could not be determined for the material 010" is shown. 010 is the BOM material. I verified multiple times and found that the determination procedure has been correctly customized. This error is not allowing me to proceed further.

Could you please help me understand the relationship between BOM Material and Business Area?

Dear Kumar,

There are two-ways:

1. You can specify the rules you want to use for determining the business area:

Three Rules are available

1.Business area assignment by Plant/Item division

2.Business area assignment by Sales Area

3.Business area assignment by Sales organization/Distribution Channel,Item Division

This can lead to different business area being determined for several items within the sales order.

In Customizing you can do assignment

IMG ->Enterpries Structure ->Assignment ->Sales and Distribution ->Bussiness Area Account Assignment

Alternatively,

2. if you are trying in IDES, or Stand-alone System; go to -

T. Code: OB65/ OBY6

Select your company code and Against which a tick (uncheck the field "Business area Fin statements"), would be there, just remove it and save.

This will cut the link which requires business area assignment.

Dear Kumar

Please go to IMG path assign the business area

IMG>Enterprise structure>Assignment>Sales and Distribution>Business Area Account Assignment-->Define Rules By Sales Area(Rule 1)

-->Assign Business Area To Plant And Division

Also check in img->SD->basicfunctions--->account assignment and costing --->business area account assignment

Mostly if you define in enterprise structure the values will flow down in SD basic functions

But better to Check in both these places

Check whether you have assigned the Business Area to your Plant and Item Division. Also check whether the Business Area is assigned to your sales area.

If these assignment is proper here then the error will be eliminated 100 %

Note the business area is determined by three rules

1.Plant and Item division

2.Sales area

3.Sales org, dist channel and item division

pls select rule 1

Following are few important transactions, in close relation with Business Area:

OX03 Create Business Area

OMJ7 assign Business Area to Plant / Valuation Area and Division

OVF2 Org Unit: Sales Area - Business Area Determination rule

OVF0 Org Unit: Business Area Determination rule

OVF1 Sales Area - Business Area Determination rule Slsorg/DstCh
