Returnable Packaging

Hi all,

My client is into Cement/Concrete additives business. They sell the product in drums/barrels which are again returned by the customer and the containers are reused again. How do I map this in SAP. Please explain the costing as well as excise implication also.

Hi,

Returnable packaging consists of materials that are stored at the customer location but which remain the property of your company. The customer is only required to pay you for the returnable packaging if he does not return it to you by a specified time.

However, stocks of returnable packaging must be

Managed separately from the rest of your stock so that you know exactly what stock is stored at the customer location

Managed separately for each customer

The inventory management treats returnable packaging as a special stock.

The settings are as follows:

1)Settings in the Material Master Record.The Item category group is LIEH.

2)Settings for the Special Stock Partner-You must define a special stock partner for processing returnable packaging when a third party is involved.

A)Creating Returnable Packaging Shipments

1)Create a sales order using the order type OR.

2)Enter the required data on the customer, the materials , and the delivering plant.

3)Enter the returnable packaging as a main item or sub-item as required.

4)Enter all other relevant data and save the order.

5)Create a delivery as the subsequent document for this sales order and, after picking has been completed successfully, post goods issue.

B)*Creating Returnable Packaging Pick-Up *

1)Create a sales order using order type LA .

2)Enter the required data on the customer, the returnable packaging, and the plant to which the materials are to be returned.

3)Enter all other relevant data and save the order.

4)Create a returns delivery for the sales order when the materials reach your company. The system proposes delivery type LR automatically. The transaction is completed by the goods issue posting which initiates a transfer posting from the customer's special stock to your plant stock.

C)Creating Returnable Packaging Issue

1)Create a sales order using order type LN.

2)Enter the required data on the customer, the returnable packaging, and the plant from which the materials are to be taken.

3)Enter all other relevant data and save the order.

4)Enter a delivery for the sales order and post goods issue.

Invoice the delivery.

You can view the returnable packaing stock in MMBE. It is displayed as special stock.The special stock indicator "V"
