Should ECC use an local exchange profile?

We know that for PI the exchange profile should always be local.

How about ECC's exchange profile? Should ECC point to its own local exchange profile, OR

should it point to a remote exchange profile?

Hi,

ECC is pointed to the PI's Exchange Profile to access for example the SLD (proxy generation).

Exhcnage profile is used by the java engine of PI. ECC utilizes abap stack for its usual working and does not use exchange profile.
