Reconcile MDM data with ECC data

How can we cross check if data in MDM and ECC systems is in synch.

Hi Sunita,

MDM can integrate with ECC/R3 system either through XI or automatically through APIs.

The point is in this process of integartion MDM consolidates and deduplicates the master data from the R/3 system using the MDM system and sends back the cleansed data.

The only way to monitor the master data in ECC before and after using MDM is by taking a extract of the master data before sending it to MDM and after sending it to MDM.

Also MDM - R/3 integartion can happen in differnt stages like for example:

- Create master data directly in R/3 system using web based front end with proper valiadtions.

- Create master data in MDM centrally and then syndicate to R/3 system which will make sure the master data in R/3 is now consistent.

- Create only global data in MDM and send it to r/3 for filling the local information in R/3 itself.

- Extract the entire master records from R/3 and send to MDM for consolidation.

So in each case you can view the master data status in MDM as well as R/3 .Although it a manual process it is the only process to do it.

We can use PI system in the landscape for monitoring or use the latest MDM 7.1 version as mentionedin the above post.

Hi Sunita,

If you are talking about the ECC MDM Integration, then the data in MDM prior to posting will be taken from ECC itself. So it will be in synch.

After the IDOC comprising of the consolidated data from MDM has been posted to ECC then, you need to check in the ECC system itself whether the data is up to the mark or not.

Alternately you can also check by executing tcode we02. The data segment will show you the preview of the data being posted.

The process mentioned by you requries manual reconciliation, is there any automated reconciliation between MDM and ECC?

Hi Sunita,

The present version of MDM does not have any automated processing.

But I guess in the coming version MDM 7.1 we have an end to end PI monitoring feature which could be quite useful.
