Hi Ravi,
To work with a family table you need to 1st create a family table in console.(Repository>add Table>Type: Families). Only then in Data Manager Family mode tab will be active.
Family table is based on the Taxonomy table and is used for printing publishing, when you have to arrange data/records based on their attribute and lookup values.
When you click onthe family mode tab in Data Manager, on LHS hierarchy defined in taxonomy table would be displayed in tree format.
On RHS clicking on partitioning tab, you will be able to see "Available Items" column which would list all the lookup tables and attributes(lookup type). Selecting a particular child(end) node and selecting any table from available items will partition the records for that particular node based on the lookup table selected.
All these partitioned records will be available in SAP MDM Publisher and you can arrange them in desired layouts you desire.
For more details you can go through Family Mode in Data Manage Reference guide.
Thanks
Manish

Hi,
In order to work with Family Table, you need to first create the family table from the console then only Family Mode in Data Manager will get enabled.

Hello Ravi,
Family table is a single hierarchy table named Families. Used to further partition main table records in each category into smaller groups based upon the values of other fields and/or attributes. You can associate family data (a paragraph, an image, bullets) once with a family of products rather than with each individual product, and also define the table layout of the field and/or attribute data (field order; stack, vertical, and horizontal pivots; and other display options). This table is available only in Family mode.
While doing publication of catalogs we can do for particualr family

Here is a high-level overview of the overall print publishing process on the basis of family table information.
1.
As already stated in this thread, as a prerequisite for print publishing, you must have defined a family table in the MDM Console. This enables the initial partitioning of products for publishing purposes.
2.
Once you have completed the product definition in your repository using the records, hierarchy, and taxonomy mode features, you can go into the publishing-specific data presentation and enlarge the data granularity by using partitioning in the family mode within the MDM Data Manager:
The initial partitioning, for example by category, has been defined in the MDM Console, and in the family mode you can further partition the families by additional attributes.
4.
Now, you can shift to the family hierarchy of the MDM Publisher where you define the basic table output format for the families.
5.
Then, in the publication hierarchy of the MDM Publisher you can make further adaptations which are then only relevant for a given publication (which is what youu2019d like to be printed out in the end).
6.
Now, in the Spread Editor of MDM Publisher you specifically concentrate on page layout and design, for example, you can use master pages and create layout templates for the publication, and make spread-specific layout adjustments.
7.
The final main step is to connect to the DTP application (Adobe InDesign) and do the very last alterations like further customization of the graphics and data items and/or refreshing of current repository information.
Hope this helps,
Markus
