FQDN required for ECC/NWDI installation?

Hello,

Is FQDN required to install ECC6.0(JAVA / ABAP Stack) and NWDI7.0?

In help portal, thease description is wrriten.

● One domain is required with which cookies can be set domain-wide, for instance, SSO2 cookies.

● Domain relaxation code is required for cross-frame JavaScript.

This is particularly important for Portal Integration (see below).

● In an HTTPS environment, client and server names must correspond to each other for certificates and for the SSL protocol.

We will not use SSO, cross-fram JavaScript, SSL.

So I think FQDN is not nessesary for our installation.

Is there any problem without FQDN?

Hi,

Will you use BSP applications ?

If yes, you need to set FQDN !

Hello Olivier,

Thank you for your reply.

We will develop WebDynpro JAVA application and not develop any BSP applications.

How about WebDynpro?

We alse might use SAPGUI for HTML with integrated ITS on Netweaver7.0.

From my understanding, integrated ITS is implemented with BSP. Is that right?

Hi,

In my experience, Abap WebDynpro don't need the FQDN. I don't know for Java WebDynpro but I suppose it will be the same.

The integrated ITS does not need either the FQDN.

Just be careful if you use the standard Abap Netweaver logon application. It needs HTTPS and the saplogon cookie which is domain dependent...
