Hello All,
can any 1 please share any link or information on transaction SM55.
It looks like a new transaction and i am facing difficulty in getting information on that transaction.
Regards,
Ravi
I don't think this is a New Transaction.
Anyways ... check Note [10743|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=10743] - quite old note but will explain the use of SM55
As per this note - In the SAP system host names are only 8 characters long.
If you want to locate any remote system or any other system in your landscape whose Host name is Too long for SAP recommendations , You can specify shot Text as per your convince.
Regards!

Hi ,
The transaction SM55 is used for THOST maintenance ...thost is a table where you maintain your Host computer name.Host computer of the SAP gateway is restricted upto 20 character. If the computer name is longer then you must define a symbolic computer name in the Thost table.
When you define a new spool device or printer on your system you have to mention destination host. This field only appears for the remote printing and PC printing. You should enter the IP address (or alias) of the host server (remote printing) or Windows PC (PC printing) or network printer. Because there is not enough space for entering an IP address, you should use transaction code SM55 to go to Maintain Table THOST screen, assign a short alias to the IP address (or DNS name), and then enter this short alias in Destination host field.
