There are three types of AS: ABAP, Java, ABAP+Java. Why to have three? For what cases they are suited for?
Thanks,
Olga

To make our life of Basis admin miserable !

Some SAP products need only the abap stack.
Some SAP products need only the java stack.
Some SAP products need both stacks.
Some of these products need a dual stack installation (solman and PI)
The other products let you choose from a 2 stacks installation or a dual stack installation.
It's getting so complicated to make architectural choices that it's becoming a good reason to ask for a salary raise if you understand a little bit how to manage this stuff !
My personal opinion is that SAP made a major mistake when designing products running the abap and java stack together.
