Hi all,
i have two queries
1) what is the use of maintaining more than one sales organization in only domestic sale.?
2) can we interchange the sales organization , for example
2000 is for Andhra pradesh
3000 is for Maharasthra
can we change like 2000 for maharasthra and vice versa...

Dear Ram,
Suppose, Some Business is being catered by Sales Org - 2000, but now onwards, the same Business is being taken care by Sales Org - 3000.
In such case, all new Orders will be entered with Sales Org - 3000, and not with Sales Org - 2000.
However, for on-going Projects/ Orders, we need to take a list of all Open_orders for Sales Org - 2000 and Upload the same in to Sales Org - 3000, and the same orders will be Short-Closed with Sales Org - 2000 (Reason For Rejection).

Read this following information and your doubts will be cleared on why to create multiple sales organisations.
In this step, you define the sales organizations in your company. In order to bring the functional scope of a sales organization in line with your organization, you should edit the following check list:
Legally, a sales organization is included in exactly one company code.
You can assign one or more plants to one sales organization.
The sales organization has an address.
Within a sales organization, you can define your own master data. This allows a sales organization to have its own customer and material master data as well as its own conditions and pricing.
You can define your own sales document types within a sales organization.
You assign sales offices and your own employees to a sales organization.
All items in a sales & distribution document, that is, all items of an order, delivery or a billing document belong to a sales organization.
A sales organization is the highest summation level (after the organizational unit Client) for sales statistics with their own statistics currency.
The sales organization is used as a selection criterion for the lists of sales documents and for the delivery and billing due list.
For each sales organization, you can determine the printer for output differently based on sales and billing documents.
A sales organization cannot share any master data with other sales organizations. The master data must be created separately. The data for a distribution channel or a division can, however, be created for several distribution channels or divisions.
Note
If you do not distinguish different sales organizations in your company, use sales organization "0001" as a "general sales organization". Specify the value in the user master record as a parameter. The user then will not have to make further entries.
Actions
To define a sales organization, enter a four-character alphanumeric key and a description. Enter an address as well.

Lets undestand with an example:
In an Organization, we have different Line of Business, say
1. Consulting & Advisory Services
2. Audit & Assurance
3. Engg. & Industrial Solutions
4. Infrastructure Services
So, these will be defined as Sales Organization.
and, in each Line of Business, Company serves with defferent Channels.
1. Domestic - Retail
2. Domestic - Non-Retail
3. International - Retail
4. International - Non-Retail
these will be defined as Distribution Channel.
Now, within each Line of Business, there are Multiple Offerings/ Services/ Products, say
in, Consulting & Advisory Services, Company Offers:
1. Enterprise Resource Planning
2. Business Process Integration
3. Business Intelligence
these will be defined as Divisions, within Consulting & Advisory Services.
Now, coming to second query:
Can can't change/ swap Sales Organizations, to one-another.
However, you may transfer your Business from one Sales Org. to another.

1). As per my understanding some of the reasons for an enterprise to go with more than one sales organization for a domestic sales are:
u2022 Different legal responsibilities (Ex: Product liability)
u2022 Unusual Product lines(Ex: medicines and Equipments)
u2022 Separate distribution responsibilities with its own pricing and marketing strategies(Ex: Domestic and foreign)
u2022 Requirement of maintaining customer & master data in specific way. Etcu2026

First you need to understand the real meaning of sales organization and its responsibilities and controls
Sales org creation is not country dependent
It is the organizationals choice to have as many as sales orgs they want
Say a corporate company operating in India can go ahead with only one sales org for carrying out entire sales activities or can go with 4 sales organizations say north , south,east and west or even more if they wish so
but to keep minimum is ideal
All master datas like VOR1 and VOR2 settings are defined for or under a single sales organization
Sales organization is responsible for selling goods,carrying out sales strategies etc
India being vast country with so much cultural differences and if you have single sales organization the strategies will not work everywhere
So it is ideal to have more so that better planning can be done depending on the region
What do you mean by interchanging sales org?

As per standard SAP definitions
sales organization is an organizational unit in logistics which groups the enterprise according to the requirements of sales and distribution
sales organization is responsible for distributing goods and services and also liable for product liability and responsible for the customer's right of recourse
sales organization is also used to take for example a regional,national or international subdivision of the market into account
A sales organization is uniquely asssigned to a company code
You can maintain your own master data for a sales org
In sales statistics sales organization is the highest summation level
All items in a SD document say in order or delivery or bill they belong to a sales org
