In SAP documentation I see:

Every SAP system must have one central instance, which includes:

● Usage type AS ABAP

Dispatcher

Work processes (dialog, batch, spool, or update)

Gateway

Internet Communication Manager (ICM)

Internet Graphics Service (IGS)

● Usage type AS Java

Java dispatcher

Server processes

Software Deployment Manager (SDM)

Internet Graphics Service (IGS)

It means that Usage type AS ABAP consists of Dispatcher, Work processes etc?

You answered my question, thanks, but then I'll ask els. Does the central instance have them both now (AS ABAP and AS Java)? But before (2004s) they were separate.

No, you can use Central instance with ABAP+JAVA , only ABAP or only JAVA.

Depends of your installation.
