Hi,

is it possible to change UME data source from ABAP to LDAP during heterogeneous migration (OS and hardware) for NW2004s SR2, dual stack ABAP + Java ?

best regards,

Michal

Well, it won't be possible during the migration, because the main migration step is the database export and import. But it is possible to do it shortly before or after the migration (speaking at the start or end of system downtime).

Good point, i was not aware SAP does not support this. I know it is technically possible, because i did it before (needed to get the j2ee up, while the abap system was not running). An open question is: why does somebody want to connect the j2ee to a ume other than abap in a dual stack installation?

Maybe a solution could be to leave the j2ee ume on abap and connect the abap stack to the ldap... but i think we would need more information on the planned steps from OP to help.

Thank you Michael,

we observe big traffic between Java and ABAP stack (SAPJSF user) in our system.

I wrote Java thinking about LDAP in next step (which I knew was possible).

But thank you for your idea to connect ABAP to LDAP instead.

I must learn all consequences.

best regards
