Category Rename

Hello All,

I have a local product hierarchy . Under the hierarchy . now i would like to change the text of the category and category id.

for ex

old

2008 Hierarchy

-> abc- pencil

->edf -pen

new - I want the following changes in comm_hierarchy. this edf category must be replace as zzz and text as a stationaries.

2008 Hierarchy

->abc-pencil

->zzz-stationaries

Any suggestions welcome.

Hi Muthu,

To my knowledge, i don't think one can change the Pdt category name but only the description.

May be we can wait for comments from others.

Is it because of GUID created for that Category IDas well key data too ?

I believe when i created a Hirarchy and category it created a GUID respectively for Hierarchy GUID and Catalog GUID?

Hi Muthu,

I think otherwise! Its not more due to the GUID but for the process itself.

Fir instance, its the same case with Mateials. You cannot change the name where as only the description.

Thats because these are master data which will be associated with the daily transactions & material movements.

A facility to change the name will only lead to heavy data inconsistency.

Thanks Akash. It makes sense since it is a master data to us.As SAP standard we canot change product master as well as product category.
