System Requirement

Hi,

I am studying the SOA concept and architecture and I would like to start develop in this way, but now I would like to know what are the requirements from technical point of view: when talking about SOA often I see that there are reference to Netweaver 7.1 CE; but I would like to know which are the requirements on a standard system. In our company the component we have is ECC 6.0; but in WSADMIN I can find only web services rfc compilant and not other kind, the SOAMANAGER transaction does not exists. So the question are two:

1) how can I see if my system is ready for SOA (and how please!!)

2) if the system is not ready, how can I migrate to SOA: are there some upgrades or something similar

Thanks to anyone will help me

Gabiele

Hi,

SOA is a concept. The right question is : Is my company ready for SOA ?

>2) if the system is not ready, how can I migrate to SOA: are there some upgrades or something similar

If you mean how do I get SOAMANAGER, the answer is you need ABAP and BASIS SP14 at least in your ECC6.

Thank you for reply.

I ask you to be patient with me becasue I am (really) new in this arguments, but if possible, I would like to know how can I see if the requirements "ABAP and BASIS SP14" are present or not in the system.

Thank you very much

Hi,

I'll try to be patient !

To check your SP levels, connect with SAPGUI to your abap system and click oin the menu bar on

System --> Status

Then click on the "magnifier button" near the component version field.

You will get a table like :

Software Compon Release Level

SAP_ABA 700 0016

SAP_BASIS 700 0016

PI_BASIS 2006_1_700 0007

....

You can also use report CCUEVAL if it exists in your system.

I get :

Installed components

Component Release PatchLevel

SAP Kernel 700 159

BBPCRM (BBPCRM) 600 0004

BI_CONT (Business Intelligence Content) 703 0011

CRMUIF (SAP CRM UIF 600) 600 0004

PI_BASIS (Basis Plug-In (PI_BASIS) 2006_1_700) 2006_1_700 0007

SAP_ABA (Cross-Application Component) 700 0016

SAP_AP (SAP Application Platform) 700 0013

SAP_BASIS (SAP Basis Component) 700 0016

SAP_BW (SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0) 700 0018

ST-PI (SAP Solution Tools Plug-In) 2005_1_700 0006

Sorry to be honest, but before playing with web services you need to learn the basics of a SAP system !

Thank for your help and your honestly, but I am already playing with web services as abap programmer and I think that web services are not a problem ... SOA is something else as you said ...

10 point for you : 1 for the help, 4 for the patience and 5 for the honestly!
