help in DMS project implimentation

Hi friends

Greetings

we are thinking to impliment DMS in our organization.

could you provide me some rough idea, how should i start?

like in SD,MM and FI, what documents can be there which i should store?

what do we mean by life-cycle of the documents i am going to store.

your valuable suggestions are welcom.

Hi,

As you know already, for implementation you need to first gather the business requirement and prepare Business blueprint.

for DMS,

1. need to know the volume of data stored in the form of documents, based on this need to decide wheter SAP Database wil be used or Content Server?

its preferred that only Content Server has to be used for storage of DMS documents.

2. need to know the document types based on the departments/sections/process flow

3. need to know the statuses/designation through which the document flow is processed,this resembles lifecyle.

along with this you have, classification n characteristics, digital signature, structures and so on..

you can get more detail once you refer help.sap.com..
