Not able to change an existing document in cv02n

Hi Freinds.

Greetings.

I am new in SAP DMS.I have created one document type ZTS and based on that i creted one test Document using Tcode CV01n, The internal No. range is assigned for this document type.

Now i am trying to change this document using CV02n Tcode.but it is showing error message"Function "" not possible if network address is "DEFAULT" ". i dont understand why this message is coming?

"As the variable "hostname" is not set for your frontend computer, you cannot use this function.".

could you plz tell me from where i can set "hostname for my front-end computer"?

Do i need one separate storage for storing DMS documnets, or i can store these documents in SAP R/3 system itself? what is the configuration step for storing the documents in SAP R/3 itself?

what is data carrier type ? plz explain.

Hi,

goto DC20-->double click on Define data carrier type "server, front end" , check whether data carrier type PC is present on right hand side screen.

if its thr, select PC and double click on Identify frontend computers, on right hand screen click on default..

Data Carriers as name itself indicates are the devices used to hold the data, these may be either frontend computer, servers, network or any other storage device..
