Hi All,
I need some of your valuable inputs on which module to choose in SAP keeping in mind the current market trend.
SAP ABAP or SAP XI.
I have 6 months of experience in SAP ABAP and 6 months in SAP XI.
Going ahead which module should I work upon which can give me better career perspective ahead (Both scope wise and salary wise).
Also I am more interested in going to functional side. Is it the right time for me to go to functional side into CRM or still continue with technical modules ABAP or Xi , and look for functional module later.
What is the scope of SAP CRM as compared to technical modules ABAP or XI.
Please guide. More comments will be very helpful.
Thanks,
Vikas
HI Vikas,
XI and Functional areas both differ.
What is your interest?
You like to know more on business processes like Finance, Sales, CRM.
Then you can learn/ explore more on functional side.
I would suggest you to go on area which you feel interesting , that could be Functional, XI.
Money and market will follow you, and it follows people who are always ready to learn new things like you.
So you can think of which interests you.
XI is technofunctional module, because SAP PI 7.1 is integration framework where you also need to know about business process.
So keep your learning attitude same way, and start exploring area which you love to explore.
Thanks,
Divyesh

Hi Vikas,
As divyesh pointed out, XI is a technofunctional field. You need to know a bit of everything if you want to make it big. That may be advantageous but may also be a hindrance and a complexity. If you are willing to brave it out, XI int he long run would provide a platform where you could practice your developer as well as consultant skills.
ABAP on the other hand, is a evergreen field if you are good at it. You always need ABAP'ers to help out with something. But it is upto you if you want to live your life with code. If you are good at it, this is definitely the choice.
ABAP can be learnt by reading books and taking classes etc. XI cannot be learnt from books. It takes time to learn new aspects and master them. But then again, that is the excitement it provides.!
Its mostly upto you.

Kshitij

That was a really valuable response from you.
But the thing is From beginnning I have been into technical module, but not with my interest.
I definitely want to move into Functional Side..
But this moving from Techical to Functional is whats making me confused.
Going into the Functional (and choosing CRM for this) is this the correct decision.
And also one thing if you can help.
If at all I have to continue with technical .. which would be better ..
ABAP or XI ?
Thanks,
Vikas
