INSERT sets column set to default instead of passed value

Hi!

Using the dictionary mechanism to create and alter tables i get a strange behaviour after adding a column to a table. When the table was empty before adding the column everything works fine. But in case the table contained at least one record an INSERT to the table succeeds and inserts MOST columns but sets the newly added column to the default value instead of the specified value. Of course this is a big problem as the insert does not fail or report any problems but succeeds.

Any ideas ???

Hi,

do you already have an OSS message for your issue? If not, please open one (if you're an official SAP customer) for queue BC-DB-SDB.

Could you please create an SQL trace (transaction ST05) from a reproduction of the error? If done, please speficy on which appl. server the trace was made and using which user.

Additionally, please open the R/3 and SAP DB connection to a system where you can reproduce the issue.

Regards,

Roland
